Interactive Guide
A well-designed entryway should allow for smooth movement with at least 36 inches of clearance. Consider:
- Door swing radius (typically equal to door width)
- Furniture placement that doesn't obstruct pathways
- Turning radius for wheelchairs (60 inches diameter recommended)
Different door types require different clearances:
- Swing doors: Need full radius clearance when opening
- Sliding doors: Minimal clearance but require wall space
- Bi-fold doors: Moderate clearance, good for closets
- Double doors: Require more width but can provide wider access
